Detailed digital dive log
Easily transfer dive data from your PDC to your PC
As stated in the other reviews, all things considered it is a bit pricy. This does require a significant amount of time and understanding to get up and running. You need to download and install DiverLog, then install the cable/USB driver and finally configure "Add a Computer" the DiverLog Application to sync/handshake with the PDC. I'm my case I own an Oceanic ProPlus 3 and this cable/configuration worked just fine. There are other alternatives out there (DiveNav DCbuddy) that are equally pricey however rather than requiring a USB connection (i.e. computer/laptop only) the cable plugs into a Bluetooth transmitter and you can then connect to any device (smartphone, tablet, computer, laptop) using Bluetooth functionality. If you do use DiverLog you can push/sync your dive data/logs to all other devices so your information can be easily accessed virtually anywhere with an internet connection. Oceanic is an expensive brand but you get what you pay for. Overall this is a good product and I would recommend it.I can confirm that this cable works with the Veo 2. I can also confirm that the Oceanic drivers (available from the Oceanic web site as of this writing) work on Windows 8.1.This cable appears to be a USB-to-Serial adapter similar to http://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-USB-RS-232-Serial-Converter/dp/B0007T27H8 , only instead of coming out at a 9-pin RS232 connector, it comes out at proprietary 3-pin connector. With that in mind, it's important to note that the cable all by itself, before ever attaching a dive computer, requires drivers. With drivers installed, this cable (again, before ever attaching the dive computer) shows up in Windows as a new COM device (COM7 specifically on my laptop, but yours might enumerate differently).Knowing that this isn't "just a USB cable" helps to explain why this would be a relatively expensive cable, but at ~$90, you're still at a price points that's at least double what it should be.The Oceanic dive log software for Windows is horrid and doesn't appear to have been updated in several years. Other alternatives, like Subsurface, may work better for you.5 stars for a cable that works; minus 2 stars for price.Due to manufacturer's design flaw, not the vendor, must be held in place to keep data transfer going. Comes with its own USB driver download instructions. Read the Oceanic software and USB driver FAQs carefully first, then update the Oceanic PC software to the latest version, download USB drivers specific to this cable and the ProPlus 2.0, and follow the initialization sequence. It then ran seamlessly on an Intel i-7 laptop running Windows 7 Pro. This vendor beat everyone else's price. Good ONLY for ProPlus 2.0 with grey rimmed plastic control buttons. NOT for ProPlus 2.1 with silver metalized control buttons, that takes different model of almost identical cable. The clamp on my original cable broke. This is an exact replacement for my atom 2.0 cableThe item works perfectly. I'm using it with a third party diving software and it was literally plug and play. My only complaint is, for what you get its price gouging. This is nothing more then a USB cable with a clip on the end. But the bottom line is you have no choice if you want to download your dives.I have a Veo 200. After getting past the quirks of set up, the cable worked as expected. You did have to make sure the contacts were properly aligned - since they moved without very much effort. Then it was a little confusing to follow the set up (as it's written for several models). Once you got past the quirks it was great, but because of the set backs I gave it 4 stars.Didn't really want to rate this since it will not work with my ProPlus 2.1. Let me say that again, because if you have the Proplus 2.1 rather than the Proplus 2 (the two models are almost identical and have the same functions--only difference is one has two metal buttons). I never dreamed that a ".1" on the end of the product name would require a completely different PC cable. At 89 bucks a shot that is an expensive oversight, especially after throwing out all the packaging. Bottom line, just thought I would alert the consumer because the different cable requirement is not highlighted by most retailers. This cable is quite great because it let's you download all data from your diving to a PC for further analisys, therefore giving you the information to enhance your expirience. The software to download, manage data and view graphics of depth and air mixture works very well and is easy, friendly and intuitive. It's not incluided with the cable but you can download it really quick.I highly recommend this cable for everyone who are diving wit Oceanic's computers because it will let you improve your air consumption and also plan your diving better, and will provide warning elements about depth and air mixture combinations and help diving be safer. Not much to say, it does exactly what you'd expect. As with any cable for a PDC it is vastly over priced for what it is BUT the detail it provides access to is superb. The bundled software from Oceanic (with the computer) is average at best but there are many better tools available online.Company were excellent, communication before sale to confirm the correct model was excellent.Works as expected. Nothing to complain. :)I bought this proprietary download cable for use on both my and my wife's computers. They are fiddly to install, worked after one dive trip, sporadic after the second dive trip, and failed after the third dive trip on both computers. Haven't been able to use it since.Product was shipped very quickly and was exactly as described. It's an expensive cable and this was the cheapest place I could find it. Overall a good product and great service. Thanks again!
